Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. I offer online sessions via Google Meet as well as face-to-face counselling from my therapy space in Barry.
-
This is something we'll discuss together.
Some people find weekly sessions helpful, particularly at the beginning, while others may prefer a different frequency depending on their circumstances.
There isn't a set number of sessions that everyone needs. We will continue to monitor this as we work together.
-
Absolutely not.
You don't need to arrive with a diagnosis, a plan or a list of things to discuss.
We can start wherever feels most appropriate for you.
-
Our first session is an opportunity to start getting to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling.
I'll ask some questions about what's been happening for you and what you'd like support with, but there is no pressure to tell me everything straight away.
-
Yes.
I offer a free 20-minute chat before you decide whether you'd like to book.
It's an opportunity to ask questions, tell me a little about what you're looking for and see whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
This also gives me the opportunity to ensure I’m working within my professional competencies.
-
I ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a session.
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may be charged at the full session rate.
If something unexpected happens, please get in touch and we can talk about it.
-
Collaborative, honest, and straightforward.
My job isn’t to “fix” you or give you advice, it’s to walk alongside you whilst we explore you’re reasons for coming to therapy.
-
That's completely okay.
You don't have to be certain before getting in touch.
That's exactly what the free 20-minute chat is for.
And, if you start therapy and feel that it’s not the right time or that we’re not as well suited as we thought we were, it’s okay to address this and for us to bring our work to an end.
