Hyperemesis Gravidarum
What is HG?
'Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition at the extreme end of the pregnancy sickness spectrum. It affects approximately 3% of pregnancies and is very debilitating for sufferers. HG strongly limits everyday activities; vomiting and/or nausea are severe.' - PSS Website.
I've volunteered since early 2017 for Pregnancy Sickness Support, the only UK charity supporting women with the debilitating condition, Hyperemesis Gravidarum which can see women bed bound and vomiting numerous times a day. Having suffered with this condition myself, I have first hand experience of how devastating this illness can be on a woman's mental health. It's because of my experience of my mental health struggles during and post pregnancy that I specialise in providing a maternal mental health service having studied this area further.
